REDMOND, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A worldwide cyber outage has been causing migraines for just about everyone who uses Microsoft products.

Flights were grounded, bank accounts became inaccessible and healthcare facilities were forced to close after a software update was launched with a critical defect.

The update from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike had a bug in the code that ground Windows and Microsoft programs to a halt.

Bellingham International Airport says that Allegiant flights were impacted by the cyber outage. They are asking any impacted customers to contact the airline directly, not the airport.

Border wait times for the Peace Arch crossing also remain offline.

Information for travelers returning from Canada is unavailable, but it’s unclear if it’s related to the cyber outage.

A spokesperson for PeaceHealth told KGMI that their systems were impacted by the outage, but were able to restore operations by 3 p.m.
