BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A swimming advisory has been lifted in Skagit County, while two remain in Whatcom.

The Washington State Department of Ecology says it’s now fine to swim at the beach at Bay View State Park.

The department had previously issued the advisory on July 18 after high levels of fecal bacteria turned up during routine water sampling.

Meanwhile, swimming advisories remain in effect at Wildcat Cove in Larrabee State Park and Little Squalicum Park.

Swimming in bacteria-ridden waters can be especially dangerous for children and people with chronic illnesses.

Health officials have posted warning signs at the beaches until further notice.
