BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Washington Department of Ecology is seeking public feedback starting next week on a cleanup nearly two decades after it was initially completed.

In 2005, the City of Bellingham finished work on the Holly Street Landfill site. The work included removing 12,400 tons of solid waste from the site and making sure the contaminants below the surface would not greatly impact the surrounding environment.

Now, Ecology wants the public to evaluate their report on the cleanup 19 years on. They want to know if the cleanup still protects human health and the environment.

Local non-profit RE Sources is hosting a walking tour of the site on Thursday, June 13 to provide more information. Meet at 1600 C St, Bellingham, WA in front of the Maritime Heritage Center to join the tour. RSVP for the tour here.

Bellingham residents can give feedback from June 3 to July 3.
