BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Port of Bellingham is mulling terminating a contract with their sole developer.
The Port’s commission will decide whether to enter into a termination agreement with Ireland-based Harcourt Developments at their meeting on May 6.
If they decide to go through with it, Harcourt will no longer have exclusive development rights on Bellingham’s waterfront.
Harcourt successfully restored the Granary building in 2019 and built one condominium since they entered into a contract with the Port in 2015. The Port says that despite the success, the pace of work is not matching what was set out in the Master Development Agreement.
The termination agreement would release the property back to the Port as well as end the development relationship. According to the Port, Harcourt will continue to own the Granary Building and three condominium buildings on the Whatcom Waterway.
Public comment on the decision will be accepted during the May 6 meeting.
