Diane (Gonder) Morrison passed away in her home with her husband Bill Morrison holding her hand and her family by her side. Diane was born September 21, 1941 in Livingston, MT. She grew up next to the train tracks where her father worked for the railroad. Diane lived with her parents and brother Butch across the street from her Italian grandparents, and next to several aunts and uncles, all who showered her with love. She spoke fondly of Livingston, mentioning Wilcoxson’s delicious chocolates (that her mother dipped), the Murray Hotel, and Sacajawea park. In 1966 she married Bill Morrison, who was raised on a farm near Waubay, SD. They lived in North Dakota, Colorado and eventually settled in Billings, Montana where they raised their two children Shawn and Pam Morrison.
Diane was a teacher at Senior High School where she taught shorthand and typing. Diane also taught at the Career Center and Lincoln Center where she taught computer education classes to anyone who could tolerate learning MS-DOS. Her husband Bill even managed to take a class from her, twice actually, and failed both times. Ha! She loved teaching and missed the classroom daily. Diane enjoyed spending time with her dear friends Beverly, Francis (maid of honor), Cathy, and Donna. She missed them after she moved to Bellingham, WA and spoke of them often.
Diane was a beautiful woman who loved her husband, family, and friends…and they loved her right back just as much.
She is survived by her husband Bill, son Shawn (Kara), daughter Pam Kuntz (Mark), two grandchildren Jack and Morrison Kuntz, two step grandchildren Middy Davis and Chloe Jachim (Teddy), a great granddaughter Lou Davis and her brother Bill “Butch” Gonder of Bozeman, MT.
Diane requested cremation, and that she be returned to Montana. Family and friends will enjoy her memory while sharing an Italian meal and listening to Jack and Morrison play the piano.
Diane and Bill have been contributing to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for years. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to St. Jude.
