OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A new law will make it more expensive to visit Larabee State Park and others starting this fall.

Gov. Bob Ferguson signed HB 5390 into law on Saturday, May 17 which will increase the cost of the Discover Pass from $30 to $45.

It’s the first price increase since the Discover Pass was introduced in 2011, according to Washington State Parks.

The new law will also make the Lifetime Veterans’ Disability Pass an acceptable equivalent to the Discover Pass.

But it removes an exemption that waives any reservation fees for veterans with the disability pass.

Birch Bay, Larrabee and Peace Arch state parks all require a Discover Pass to visit here in Whatcom County.

The $15 price hike and other changes will take effect on Oct. 1, 2025.
