BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The City of Bellingham is installing a temporary bridge on James Street while the demolition and reconstruction of the Meador Avenue bridge is underway.

When paving is complete on the temporary James Street bridge, detour traffic will be redirected, and the Meador Avenue bridge will temporarily close.

The two bridges were first built in 1936 and rebuilt in 1962, originally constructed on timber piers which have deteriorated overtime.

One bridge will always remain open during the reconstruction, but drivers can continue to expect delays through the area. Construction on the Meador Avenue bridge is expected to last through the fall.
