BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – An earthquake awakened some Whatcom County residents earlier this morning.

The U.S. Geological Survey says that a 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck the southeast tip of Orcas Island just after 5 a.m.

Light shaking was felt in the lowlands of Whatcom and Skagit Counties.

The earthquake was felt as far south as Seattle, and shaking was also reported in southern British Columbia.

There have been no reports of damage or casualties at this time.
