VANCOUVER ISLAND, CA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Stronger earthquakes have been recorded off the coast of Vancouver Island according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The USGS reports a magnitude 6.4 quake struck about 124 miles away from the town of Tofino at around 8 a.m. Thursday morning. Shaking was felt from the island to metro Vancouver, with others feeling tremors near Port Angeles and suburban Seattle.

Two more earthquakes, measuring at a magnitude 5.4 and 4.9, were reported near the vicinity of the first earthquake on Thursday.

All three earthquakes were recorded about 6.5 miles below the earth’s surface.

This earthquake comes a week after the USGS recorded 14 small tremors in the same area during a 48-hour period.
