BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Police arrested an Everson man after a stand-off in south Bellingham.

BPD spokesperson Lt. Claudia Murphy says that a resident called 911 Friday morning, June 28 to report someone trying to break into their home on 30th St.

They said the suspect, identified as 48-year-old Richard Folden, was throwing rocks and pounding on windows in an effort to get inside.

The resident has an active protection order in place against Folden.

When police arrived, Folden barricaded himself in a travel trailer outside the home and refused to come out.

At one point, Folden brandished what appeared to be a rifle out the front door of the trailer and threatened officers before retreating back inside.

The weapon turned out to be an airsoft gun.

Officers then used a flash bang device to get him to exit the trailer and surrender.

Folden broke a mirror inside the trailer and was taken to the hospital to be treated for lacerations.

Part of 30th St was closed for 3 hours Friday while the incident was de-escalated.
