Expect delays as work begins on Hannegan-Smith intersection

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A major construction project at the intersection of Hannegan and E. Smith Roads starts on Wednesday, May 29.

Public Works says the project will include a multi-lane roundabout designed to improve safety and traffic flow.

The first stage of the work will last until at least July 4th and will include traffic control that will cause delays for drivers.

Stage two of the project will include a 25-day full closure.

That closure will start after the 4th of July and should end before the Northwest Washington Fair kicks off.

The specific closure dates are not available yet, but Public Works will have more details as the work progresses.
