ANACORTES, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – State ferries have returned to service after a staggering employee outage.
Washington State Ferries announced Tuesday morning, Oct. 6, that all of their routes are back to their regularly scheduled service.
The state’s ferry system was brought to a near standstill Monday after WSF said 23 of its engine room employees called out sick.
Anonymous sources told KING5 that the so-called “sick-out” came after engine room workers were denied cost-of-living adjustments and raises.
WSF reported ferries on the Anacortes-San Juan Islands route were running up to half an hour behind schedule Tuesday afternoon.
You can stay up to date on the latest ferry schedule changes on WSDOT’s website.
