BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man is in custody after being accused of stabbing a man during a fight in Bellingham.
Police spokesperson Megan Peters says that the suspect approached a man and his dog behind a business on N Samish Way on Sept. 8. The suspect alleged that the man was trespassing, but the suspect continued to instigate a fight as the man attempted to walk away.
The interaction eventually led to an altercation between the two individuals. The suspect sprayed the victim with pepper spray and stabbed the victim in the legs after being knocked to the ground.
It is unclear if the victim was hospitalized, as he told officers he would go on his own.
The suspect, a 45-year-old man, was taken into custody and remains at the Whatcom County Jail without bail.
