PORTLAND, OR (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Bureau of Land Management has announced fire restrictions across all public lands in Washington and Oregon as of yesterday (Thursday).
The restrictions prohibit the use of fireworks, exploding or metallic targets, steel component ammunition, tracer or incendiary devices, and sky lanterns.
The Bureau says the restrictions will help reduce human-caused fires, which they say have only increased over the years.
Violators of the prohibition can be fined up to $100,000 and face up to a year in prison, additionally, anyone found responsible for starting wildland fires on federal lands can be billed for the cost of fire suppression.
