BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Five people, including a child, and a dog were rescued from their kayaks near Lummi Island.

U.S. Coast Guard Station Bellingham reported that the kayakers activated their SOS signal on Sunday, June 9 about a mile and a half away from Lummi Island.

Rescuers noted that all of the kayakers, including the dog, were wearing their personal flotation devices.

After pulling them from the waters, the kayakers were taken back to shore.

One person received EMS treatment, but no one was hospitalized.
