BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A flash flood watch is in effect for eastern Whatcom and Skagit Counties.
The National Weather Service in Seattle says that thunderstorms are forecast to develop over the North Cascades through tonight.
Meteorologists are warning that heavy rainfall could agitate burn scars from previous wildfires.
Those include the area where the Easy Fire burned last August near the North Cascades Highway, as well as the burn scar area on Sourdough Mountain from 2023.
In addition to flooding, debris could also flow from any burn scar area impacted by heavy rains.
