LYNDEN, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – If you’re looking for a low-cost way to attend the Northwest Washington Fair this summer, you may want to consider bringing non-perishable food to donate at the fair.
Food Drive Friday is returning to the fair in Lynden for a second year this summer.
On Aug. 9, people can donate food pantry items in return for admission to the fair at Gates 1 and 5 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. According to the fair’s General Manager Selena Burgess, the fair collected over 11,600 lbs., or 5.8 tons, of food during Food Drive Friday in 2023.
People will need to donate four items per ticket, which go for $10 to $15 this year. Donations will be distributed within the Whatcom County Food Bank Network.
Local food banks are looking for canned proteins, fruits and vegetables, dry pinto beans, pasta and rice.
Food drive sponsors Brown & Brown Insurance Services will also be conducting food drives through Aug. 8 at their locations in Lynden and Seattle.
