BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A former Western Washington University soccer player is taking her talents across the pond.
WWU says former goalkeeper Claire Henninger has signed a contract to play for Torreense in Portugal.
Henninger wrapped up her career at Western in 2023 being selected as the GNAC Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-West Region. Between 2019 and 2023, she put together one of the best goalkeeping careers in school history.
Henninger is the 11th WWU women’s soccer player to sign a professional contract and the first since Peyton Chick did it back in 2021.
According to the club’s website, Henninger is already part of the squad and is preparing for the team’s return to competition in August.
