BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – If you plan on flying next week, make sure you have the right ID or you could be grounded.
The deadline to be compliant with the federal REAL ID Act is one week away.
Starting on Wednesday, May 7, you’ll need an enhanced Washington driver license or other acceptable form of ID in order to board domestic flights and enter federal buildings. Other acceptable forms of ID include a passport or passport card, Nexus pass, Department of Defense ID, photo tribal ID and more.
Washington state’s standard driver license is not compliant with the law and won’t be accepted by the TSA after May 6.
According to CBS News, only 27% of Washington driver licenses are REAL ID compliant as of April 18, which is one of the lowest rates in the country.
