BLAINE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Blaine’s historic Plover Ferry has been taken out of service less than a month after its return from extensive repairs.

The passenger ferry, which transports people between Blaine Harbor and the Semiahmoo Spit, went back into service in early August following a $100,000 restoration.

The City of Blaine says in a social media post that the crew found rotted wood in the 80-year-old vessel’s stern during training exercises over the weekend. The captains immediately requested an inspection by the U.S. Coast Guard which issued a no-sail order for the vessel.

The Plover Ferry will remain out of service until repairs are completed.
