WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Travel will soon be flowing back to normal on a stretch of I-5.

WSDOT says that they anticipate reopening the main lanes of I-5 northbound over Chuckanut Creek by next Friday morning, Oct. 9.

Drivers have been using a bypass lane since June so that crews could install a new, fish-passable bridge over Chuckanut Creek.

Crews are still working to replace the bridge over Chuckanut Creek on Old Samish Road, which has been closed since April.

WSDOT anticipates the road will be back open by December.
