NORTH CASCADES, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – An injured backcountry skier was rescued from the North Cascades National Park.

The Bellingham Mountain Rescue Council says the skier suffered a lower leg injury Friday afternoon, June 7 near Hannegan Pass and Ruth Mountain.

Rescue crews found the skier and their partner later that evening, with the skier in stable condition.

Summit to Sound assisted Mountain Rescue Council crews in bringing the skier down the mountain.

Paramedics met with the skier and rescue crews early Saturday.

The Mountain Rescue Council says that the skier’s preparedness for backcountry conditions helped them stay safe in the snowy conditions.
