BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – KAFE 104.1 held its first Airwaves for Animals radiothon at the Whatcom Humane Society with a lofty goal of raising $50,000.

Broadcasting for 18 hours over the course of two days, the morning show consisting of Dave Walker, Allan Fee, and Patrice Valentine with the help of afternoon host, Scotty VanDryver, hit their goal in the closing minutes of the second day on-air.

With the shelves running low in the animal food bank, businesses and community members poured in with support and helped restock the supplies needed to help feed all the cats, dogs and more.

“Big and small, everybody, you have made such a profound difference in the lives of the domestic, wild and farm animals here in Whatcom County,” said Laura Clark, Executive Director of the Whatcom Humane Society.

Highlights from the radiothon include:

– Over $50,000 raised for the Whatcom Humane Society

– Adoption fees of just $10.41 during the event

– Fully-stocked shelves in the animal food bank

– 31-pound cat being adopted the same day of surrender resulting in a better quality of life going to a loving home

“These donations are going to help so many animals in so many ways… It’s just endless the ways these donations are going to help,” added Clark.
