ALGER, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Your commute is about to get a bit easier if you’re travelling out of Whatcom County.
WSDOT says that I-5 in Alger will be returned to a two-lane pattern by 2 p.m. Friday, May 22.
Crews put in a temporary lane crossover to begin work on a fish passage project.
The on-ramp to I-5 NB from Alger will remain closed through the end of the month.
Most major construction work on state roads will be paused for the Memorial Day Weekend, where millions of drivers are expected to clog roads across the country.
WSDOT estimates that afternoons will be busiest in the afternoons going northbound on I-5 up to the border between Thursday and Sunday.
Southbound traffic in the same stretch is only expected to hit traffic hiccups around Sunday afternoon.
