OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A political action committee (PAC) backing several initiatives on Washington’s November ballot is facing a hefty fine for violating campaign finance laws.
The Washington State Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) fined Let’s Go Washington $20,000 on Wednesday, Oct. 9, for not properly disclosing their spending on the signature gathering process.
The PDC says Let’s Go Washington did not report subvendors that were used in the process and did not share its campaign records when they were asked. Half of the fine could be suspended if the PAC meets a certain set of conditions laid out by the commission.
Let’s Go Washington was founded by conservative businessman Brian Heywood in 2022.
Its four initiatives on the November ballot seek to repeal the state’s capital gains tax, repeal the carbon cap and invest program, make its new long-term care tax voluntary and stop the state from discouraging the use of natural gas.
