TUMWATER, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A proposed initiative is one step closer to being on your ballot this November.
The political action committee Let’s Go Washington (LGW) has turned in their signatures for their so-called “income tax repeal initiative” Thursday, July 2.
If approved, the initiative would challenge the state’s recently-passed “millionaire’s tax” that taxes assets above a person’s million-dollar income threshold.
LGW said they reported a total of over 511,000 signatures collected, surpassing the required 386,000 for an initiative to be approved. They said in a statement there are likely to be more signatures in the final tally.
The Washington state Secretary of State’s office will verify the signatures in the coming days.
This marks the third and final initiative LGW would put on the November ballot this year.
The first initiative on the ballot would restrict transgender students’ ability to compete in girls sports in the state.
The second initiative would reinstate the “Parents’ Bill of Rights,” changing state law to provide parents more oversight of their child’s medical records and school materials.
