WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Lifestyle Lookout this week features a weekend of festivals in Whatcom County from Bellingham to Ferndale to Maple Falls.
Let’s head east first, shall we? The 2024 Bigfoot Festival kicks off at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3 at Maple Falls Park. There will be vendors, live music, a beer garden plus fundraising opportunities to support Maple Falls Community Park. Also… root beer floats!
The Bigfoot Festival will begin with a raffle before the root beer float sales start at 11 a.m. The beer garden opens at noon along with live music from Moon Ghost and The Problem. Food trucks on scene will include Lumpia Love, Cicchiti’s East Coast Pizza, Mix Masala and more. So, if you’re heading east to the mountains tomorrow, be sure to swing by for some good times.
For all the details, visit the 2024 Bigfoot Festival’s Facebook page.
The 3rd Annual Acid Ball Psych Rock Music Festival is also on Saturday down at Trackside on Bellingham’s waterfront. It runs from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Headlining the show is Frankie and the Witch Fingers, a psychedelic rock band from Los Angeles, CA. They’re playing with Jimmy James & the Sure Things, a band with more of a classic rock vibe. Emi Pop will bring haunting vocals and dreamy soundscapes to the stage. Rounding out the bill is Skerik’s Lorbo and The Groovy Nobody.
Tickets for the Acid Ball Psych Rock Festival are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Go to kulshanbrewing.com for all the details.
If those options don’t work for you, the 3rd Annual Ferndale Block Party will run for two days this year. Starting Friday evening, Aug. 2 at 5 p.m., head up to FrinGe Brewing for live music, food and more.
The Penny Stinkers will perform from 5 to 9 p.m. with special guests. Food trucks will include WTF, Mobile Mouth Hole, Tam Tam Pizza and Hank & Bubby’s. So, if live music, great food and delicious beer and cider are your thing, tonight is your night in Ferndale.
Then on Saturday, the Ferndale Block Party runs all day from noon to 9 p.m. There will be a whole lineup of excellent live music including True Stars, Only Tree, Written in Sand, The Naughty Blokes and DadCo. The music starts at noon and runs until 8:30 p.m. Food trucks will include WTF, Mobile Mouth Hole, Hank & Bubby’s plus there will be a firefighter’s BBQ.
There will be plenty of fun for the kids too with an art showcase from local students. Their work will be on display from noon to 8 p.m. and there will be an art auction to benefit ART for All. There will also be a kids art contest. Winners will have their work featured on the side of one of the WTA’s new Hybrid buses. Plus, there’s a chance to explore a WTA bus and even a “Climb on a Firetruck” event. Families can also check out the crafts and wares created by around 40 local vendors and a bunch of non-profits will have free activities and contests for the young ones.
So, if you are looking for some more adult oriented music and libations, head to the Ferndale Block Party this evening. For an all-day, family oriented extravaganza, head up tomorrow.
Admission to the Ferndale Block Party is free. Go to fringebrewing.com for all the details.
