WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Looking for something fun to do this weekend?  We have got you covered with this week’s “Lifestyle Lookout”.

The weekend’s action kicks off at Bellewood Farms in Lynden.  They’ll host their Applewood Smoked Bourbon Barrel Opening Party on Friday, April 26, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  When you are there, try their newest batch of bourbon, listen to live music from regional jazz quartet The Banknotes and play boardgames, cornhole or frisbee.  It should make for a great date night because this is an adult only event.

“We make the bourbon from Skagit County corn and grain, then we smoke the grains in applewood from our farm,” said Eric Abel, president of Bellewood Farms.  “It creates a subtle smokey taste that has been well received by customers.”

Bellewood Farms will also have a special bourbon-inspired menu for you to enjoy.  While you’re there, you can pop out to the orchards to see if any apple blossoms are blooming too!  Find all the details for this event at bellewoodfarms.com.

Speaking of blossoms.  It’s the Flower Power 5K in Ferndale on Saturday.

You can help the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce line Main Street with flower baskets for the summer by registering and running the 5K.  Head to the Pioneer Pavilion to register at 10:30 am on Saturday.  The starting line is right there too.  You’ll loop around downtown Ferndale before finishing up the run at FrinGe Brewing on 3rd Ave.

The race starts at 11:30 am, so make sure you get there in time to register.  Or if you don’t feel like running, you can sponsor a flower basket for $125.  Registration for the Flower Power 5K is $35.  Go to the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce’s website for all the details.

Bellingham Beer Week comes to an end this weekend with the annual April Brews Day event down at the waterfront.  It’s Bellingham’s biggest beer festival featuring over 60 craft beers and ciders from the Pacific Northwest, live music, food and a whole lot more.  We heard there might be some folks from the Bellingham Circus Guild rolling around on stilts. Sweet!

April Brews Day is a fundraiser for the Max Higbee Center, an organization founded by educators and families of people with developmental disabilities to provide recreation opportunities in Whatcom County.  It’s a great cause and sure to be a great time.  MyBellinghamNow and our friends at 92.9 KISM will be at the event so if you see us, say hello!

Tickets are still available and can be purchased at aprilbrewsday.com.  April Brews Day is on Saturday, April 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., so get your tickets, throw on some rain gear and head down to the corner of Granary Avenue and Chestnut Street.  Cheers!

Our featured local live music event for this weekend is bittersweet.

Atomic Affair, a blues-rock band from right here in Bellingham, has announced that they are performing their last ever show at The Blue Room on Saturday night.  Opening for Atomic Affair is PNW-based jam band Whalien and Bellingham’s own Cuttlefish, two bands that will get you moving on the dance floor.

This will be a fantastic evening of music, and a celebration of the time that Atomic Affair has spent with us in the Bellingham music scene.  In case you did not know, The Blue Room is all ages and is owned by recent WWU alums.  Support local music and small businesses by going to blueroombham.com for tickets.
