WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – It is Father’s Day weekend and there are a bunch of fun things to do to celebrate here in Whatcom County. The weather may be a little dicey, but dress for it and enjoy!
Ferndale Uncorked and Uncapped is a beer, cider and wine festival. Taste new offerings from a number of Whatcom County breweries and cideries, as well as wine from right here in Washington State. There will be food trucks on hand serving up grub and this year’s event will feature a car show.
Uncorked and Uncapped is a fundraiser with all proceeds going to benefit Be the One, an organization that works to strengthen communities through mentorship. It is a great cause and a great time. Tickets are $45 and come with a tasting glass and six tasting tokens. You can pay more for early VIP access if you are so inclined.
This event is on Saturday, June 15 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Pioneer Park in Ferndale and is at 21+ event. Go to betheonetoday.org for tickets.
If your dad is really into cars, don’t forget about Father’s Day at Bellewood Farms. The Father’s Day Car Show there runs Sunday, June 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. They will offer up plenty of food options and delicious libations to sip on. Go to bellewoodfarms.com for all the details.
Another great annual event this weekend is Whatcom This Whey. Tour dairy farms across Whatcom County. Taste cheese, chocolate milk and other dairy products all while learning how these farms crank out the goodness. Featured farms include Twin Sisters Creamery in Ferndale, Grace Harbor Farms in Custer, Twin Brook Creamery in Lynden and Van Dellen Farms in Everson. And that is just to name a few!
Whatcom This Whey features activities for the kids and fun for the whole family. You will want to wear appropriate attire like sturdy boots and bring a cooler for any treats you buy along the way. It is on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. So, gas up the rig and take your dad on a dairy-filled adventure like no other. Go to wadairy.org for all the details.
Our featured show this week is up in the friendly confines of Ferndale. Written in Sand is playing at the Main Street Bar and Grill on Saturday night. They will bring their earnest and riff-laden Americana to the little city on the Nooksack. If you like Wilco, Neil Young and Nirvana, you will love this band.
The show starts at 8:30 and it is free. No cover. Nada. You pay nothing, my friends. Check Written in Sand out on their website writteninsandband.com.
