WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Northwest Washington Fair in Lynden is off and running and this weekend is packed with fun activities for everyone. Once you have bought your entry ticket, there are plenty of free events to check out including the Northwest Washington Car Show, The Ninja Experience, Cirque Cyber, the Grandstand Horse Show, Barnyard Racers, and/or just wandering around checking out all the farm animals.

If you want to spend a little extra money, you can always buy yourself a ticket to one of the great grandstand shows. On Saturday, Aug. 10, Walker Hayes will bring his brand of pop-country to the stage. Tickets are still available for that show. Then on Sunday, Banda Los Recoditos will perform regional Mexican music. Next Saturday’s Ludacris show is sold out, but tickets are still available for Leeland and Chris Jansen.

There’s also a carnival, farming exhibits, an antique tractor display, a beer garden and tons of fair food to eat, and a rodeo. What more is there to say. It’s the Northwest Washington Fair. It’s fun. You should go.

If you are looking for something else fair-ish to enjoy, check out Food Truck Fridays at Pioneer Park in Ferndale. Several food trucks will set up and Jim Buk Tu will grace the Pioneer Village Stage starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9. Jim Buk Tu is a cover band specializing in classic alternative rock.

Food Truck Fridays is part of the City of Ferndale’s Summer of Fun, which also includes Music in the Park and Flicks in the Park. Next up on the music side, Lemon Creek will celebrate women of rock and pop on August 17. The last movie they’re showing for the summer is Migration at 6 pm on August 23.

Walker Hayes is bringing that pop-country to the NWW Fair in Lynden, but if indie pop is more your vibe, head on down to The Blue Room in Bellingham on Saturday.

Art Gecko, an indie pop band from Seattle is coming to town. Their second EP Occult was release on Friday, Aug. 9. Art Gecko is playing with Dollar Bird and Carrao. The show starts at 9 p.m. and it’s all-ages.
