WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – It looks like this fall-ish weather will hang around Whatcom County this weekend, but you shouldn’t let that stop you from getting out and enjoying the cooler temperatures. From movies to paintball to live music, it’s going to a jam-packed good time.

The final film in the City of Ferndale’s Flicks in the Park is on Friday, Aug. 23, at Pioneer Pavilion. It’s part of their “Summer of Fun” and to wrap it up they’re showing Migration, an animated film about a family of ducks trying to go on a perfect vacation. Turns out it’s a long way from New England to Jamaica. Watch the ducks navigate their way south as hijinks and calamities stand in their way.

Migration will be shown indoors at Pioneer Pavilion and the show starts at 6 p.m. It’s free. So, just show up and enjoy!

If you prefer your films of the live-action variety, head on down to Fairhaven on Saturday, Aug. 24 for an outdoor showing of The Princess Bride. Fairhaven Outdoor Cinema features live music, concessions and a film screened on their massive outdoor screen. The Princess Bride is the classic 1987 Rob Reiner film featuring Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Christopher Guest and Andre the Giant. It’s a funny, swashbuckling journey through a fantastical world of wonder and whimsy.

Tickets for Fairhaven Outdoor Cinema are $7 cash or $8 with a credit card. Live music from Keith Carpenter and Lynne Givier starts at 6:50 p.m. and the movie will start at 8:25 p.m.

Are you looking to get into paintballing or need to beef up your paintballing skills? There will be an Epic Paintball Clinic featuring professional paintballer Tyler Harmon at the AG Sports Park in Ferndale on Saturday, Aug. 24. Learn off the break shooting, sliding techniques, moving and shooting, and how to properly hold your equipment. Harmon will also be teaching Communication 101. Communication is key in paintball. Trust us.

Our neck of the woods is often referred to as the Fourth Corner and this weekend, it’s the Fourth Corner Punk Fest in Bellingham. Warp Detour will be performing NOFX’s Punk in Drublic in full. Plus, Seattle’s College Radio will perform along with local punk rock outfit Boxcutter PNW. Drayton, Para Amore, a Paramore Tribute band, and All Hype are also on the docket.

Besides all the great music, there will be tattoo artists on scene, mohawks and hair coloring by VS Barbershop, custom grips from Unknown Board Shop and a DJ set by Ritual Records.

This year’s Fourth Corner Punk Fest will be held in the courtyard next to Time and Materials on State Street. It’s all ages and starts at 3 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at fourthcornerpunkfest.com.
