BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – For this week’s Lifestyle Lookout, we have a LOT to talk about!
This weekend is the Skagit Wood Expo down at the Skagit County Fairgrounds. This runs all weekend long, starting on Friday, April 5. If you want to get started early, grab you tickets for that event. They’ll have live music, a beer garden featuring beer from Stones Throw Brewery, food trucks serving wood-fired pizza and free axe throwing with Axe Academy. We’re talking about the kind of axes you chop wood with, not the kind you shred riffs on. The Friday Pre-Party is on Friday from 5 to 9:30 p.m.
The real fun gets started on Saturday with a one-of-a-kind gathering for live milling, woodworking and wood carving demonstrations, a unique artisan marketplace with over 50 local vendors and a live wood auction. The Skagit Wood Expo runs Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with all that plus a circus show for the whole family featuring a chainsaw juggler. Then there’s more hot wood action on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Sunday Morning Line Dancing and the Live Wood Auction. So, if you or someone you know loves woodworking, head on down to the Skagit Fairgrounds this weekend. You’ve got to pre purchase your tickets for the pre-party for Friday but tickets for the expo are just $10 at the door on Saturday and Sunday.
If you like the beer down at the expo, why not check out Stones Throw Brewery on Saturday as well! It’s the Fairhaven brewery’s 8th Anniversary Block Party. This is a free, family-friendly and pet-friendly event featuring live music, food trucks and one of the best patios in all of Whatcom County. And, of course, plenty of delicious beer. The Stones Throws Anniversary Block party runs Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. Again, it’s totally free. Go to stonethrowbrewery.com for all the details.
On Sunday, you may want to wind down with some soothing acoustic music at the Wild Buffalo in Bellingham. That’s when singer-songwriter Ryan Montbleau from Peabody, MA comes to town to serenade us with his acoustic music. The musician made a name for himself playing around the Boston area before traveling the world and eventually putting down permanent roots in Burlington, VT. He’ll bless us with his presence in the city of subdued excitement on Sunday down at the Wild Buffalo. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are just $20 online. Quite a deal to see such a gifted songwriter perform, so go to wildbuffalo.net for tickets and enjoy!
