LUMMI RESERVATION (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Lummi Nation will be holding their 78th annual festival saluting veterans this month.

The Stommish Water Festival’s theme this year is “Saluting Our Veterans through storytelling.” Attendants can listen to the stories of veterans, express care, and appreciate them and their service.

The festival is set to take place the weekend of June 14 and will go through that Sunday. It will be held on the Lummi Stommish Grounds at Gooseberry Point.

The festival was originally imagined as a celebration to welcome home WWII veterans.

There will be many events at the festival including war canoe races throughout the weekend and the Lummi Stommish Princess and Warrior Crowning. A veterans parade is scheduled for Saturday at noon beginning at Wexliem and ending at the Lummi Stommish Grounds.
