BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Lummi Nation will be celebrating their recent state basketball championship with a parade on Thursday, March 13.

Lummi Nation School’s boys’ team took home the 1B title over the weekend in Spokane, beating the top-ranked Almira/Coulee-Hartline 53-50.

The community will celebrate the boys’ win and the girls’ team making it to state with a parade through the main drag of the Lummi reservation.

This marks the first state win for the Blackhawk boys in a decade, and the second in the school’s history.

The parade is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. and will go along Kwina Road, beginning at Northwest Indian College and ending at the Lummi Indian Business Council building. After the parade, acknowledgements and refreshments will be offered at the Lummi Indian Business Council lobby.
