YAKIMA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Lynden High School boys and girlsĀ basketball teams swept the 2A Championship games while the Nooksack Valley High School girls team won their second straight 1A state title in Yakima on Saturday Mar. 2.
Standout Devin Coppinger was the driving force for the Pioneers as they overcame Deer Park 70-67.
Senior Anthony Canales led the Lynden Lions with 29 points as they overwhelmed Grandview 85-54. It was Lynden’s third straight 2A title.
The Lynden girls followed suit with a close 43-40 win over Ellensburg to take the 2A state trophy.
The Lynden Christian boys and girls also played in consolation games Saturday, both placing third in state. LC boys defeated Seattle Academy while the girls bested Wapato.
