LYNDEN, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Lynden School Board is asking for the community’s input on the potential for a new capital bond.

The board is hosting a meeting this Thursday, April 4 to discuss needs for facility projects across the district.

The district’s previous $157.5 million bond garnered 51% support from voters in February’s special election, short of the 60% mark that’s required for it to pass. In addition to building a new high school, the bond would have expanded capacity at Isom and Bernice Vossbeck elementary schools as well as updated heating and ventilation at Fisher Elementary and Lynden Middle School.

According to a news release, the board is now considering putting a multi-million-dollar capital project on the ballot in 2024 or 2025. It’s encouraging residents to offer their thoughts on the timing and scope of the potential bond.

Thursday’s meeting includes a public comment section and takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the district office on Main Street.
