BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A wandering, wayward cow that was on the loose in Bellingham for over two months has been safely captured.

The Whatcom Humane Society says that Mabel the cow entered an enclosure built by residents in the Barkley neighborhood on the night of Oct. 18. Her entrance triggered a trip wire that contained her within a fenced area.

Humane Society members and volunteers were able to coax her into a trailer and take her to the Humane Society’s farm facility.

Veterinarians will be checking on her health once she is settled into her new environment at the farm.

The Humane Society says that they are working to find a permanent place for Mabel to call home in the future.
