BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man has been arrested in connection with a 2022 overdose death in Bellingham.

Court documents say the victim, 32-year-old Haley Rostron, died after being taken to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center in March 2022.

The Whatcom County Medical Examiner later confirmed that Rostron died due to a fentanyl overdose. Rostron’s mother contacted police after finding conversations on her daughter’s cell phone that indicated she may have purchased fentanyl the same day she was hospitalized.

A search warrant was granted for the phone and investigators found that Rostron had spoken with the suspect, 38-year-old Blake Davis.

Investigators also learned that Rostron allegedly paid Davis $70 through a mobile payment app for several fentanyl pills, even instructing Davis to leave the drugs on her porch before her husband got home. Her husband returned to find her unresponsive and called 911.

Davis, whose last known location was in Spokane, was booked into the Whatcom County Jail on Feb. 13 and is being held without bail.

He faces a charge of homicide by controlled substance and a charge of drug possession with intent to deliver.
