MOUNT VERNON, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man has been arrested in connection to the Mount Vernon drive-by shooting last week that left two young men injured.

Mount Vernon Police located the suspect, 31-year-old Zachery Ruiz of Sedro-Woolley, on Tuesday, June 25 at Clear Lake Beach. Police say they were able to identify the Sedro-Woolley man in the course of their investigation into the June 18.

They arrested him without incident and booked Ruiz into Skagit County Community Justice Center where he remains on $750,000 bail. Ruiz is charged with two counts of First-Degree Assault and Drive-By Shooting.

The 18-year-old and 23-year-old victims were transported to hospitals for multiple non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
