SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man is in custody after attempting to set a home on fire in Skagit County.
Sedro-Woolley Police say that a person inside the residence called 911 after the suspect tried to stab them Tuesday morning. The victim was able to get away with minor injuries, and the suspect hid inside an apartment unit once officers arrived.
As detectives worked to secure a search warrant to detain the suspect, they watched as a large amount of smoke began rising from the unit the suspect was in.
The building was evacuated and the suspect got out through a small window, where he was met by officers. Still armed with a knife, the suspect refused to drop his weapon until he was shot by police.
An officer ended up using one non-lethal round on the suspect before taking him into custody.
