BIRCH BAY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man who was seriously injured at Birch Bay Waterslides last summer is suing the owners of the park.

Larry Baker filed the lawsuit against the park last Thursday, May 9 according to court documents.

Baker went down the park’s Hairpin slide on Aug. 25 when his legs broke through a defective panel.

He was transported to Harborview Medical Center and park employees eventually shut down the entire park.

Baker claims the park’s owners are at fault for not keeping up with regular maintenance and not having detailed safety plans in case of emergencies.

He is asking for financial compensation to cover his medical bills, attorney fees, and wages lost from being unable to work.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that Birch Bay Waterslides has not been approved to reopen this year until significant repairs are made.
