BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man who shot another person outside of a Bellingham nightclub has been sentenced.

24-year-old Emanuel Martinez-Lucero will spend just under a year in jail for two assault charges according to court documents.

In late 2022, Martinez-Lucero had gotten into an argument with another person at the former Underground nightclub (now Bar 211) in downtown Bellingham.

The victim and a friend were standing outside of the club when Martinez-Lucero returned in a car and fired a shot through the window. The bullet struck the person in the stomach, and he was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Martinez-Lucero was identified in a photo lineup and was arrested five months later.

Initial charges of drive-by shooting and first-degree assault were changed after he pled guilty on Tuesday.
