BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man has been handed a lengthy sentence for his role in a 2023 north Bellingham drive-by shooting.
Court documents state that 29-year-old Jesus Monreal Bojorquez will spend the next 10 years in prison.
He pled guilty last Tuesday, Aug. 18 to committing the drive-by shooting and second degree assault.
My Bellingham Now previously reported that Monreal Bojorquez fired several shots from the driver’s seat at a man in the Walmart parking lot in December 2023. The victim was struck by two of the bullets, which required lengthy surgery.
Bojorquez’s passenger, Jordan Velthuizen, threw the gun out the passenger window as they attempted to flee. Both were arrested after being pulled over on the Guide.
Bojorquez told investigators he targeted the victim because he believed the man had robbed Velthuizen earlier that month.
In February, Velthuizen was sentenced to three years in prison for her role in the shooting.
