BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man is in custody after attempting to enter a closed Bellingham restaurant with a weapon.

Police spokesperson Megan Peters says the suspect was blocking the doorway of the Grand Avenue restaurant Thursday morning, April 11. After refusing to leave, the suspect took out a knife and went inside.

The person who had asked them to leave was able to escape out the back door and call police.

Officers arrived and found the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Kolya Daughs, still inside the restaurant’s front entrance. No one was injured, and no customers were present at the time of the incident.

Daughs remains at the Whatcom County Jail without bail.
