SALISH SEA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – An earthquake woke up parts of Whatcom County this morning.

The US Geological Survey says the magnitude 4.0 quake hit roughly 7.5 miles east of Victoria, BC around 4 a.m. Thursday.

Light shaking was felt across most of Western Whatcom County, The San Juan Islands, and Eastern Vancouver Island.

USGS adds that the quake struck about 32 mi below the Earth’s surface.
