BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man was arrested in Bellingham following a motorcycle crash while attempting to evade law enforcement.
Washington State Patrol (WSP) trooper Brad Tulloch says a trooper first spotted a stolen motorcycle driving on Lakeway Drive after 7:30 p.m. the evening of Jan. 9.
According to the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect driving the motorcycle had likely eluded police the previous night. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the motorcyclist drove around the State Patrol vehicle, beginning a pursuit on Lakeway Drive.
The chase ended when the motorcycle slowly drove into a small retaining wall at the dead end of Verona Street. The driver of the motorcycle attempted to flee on foot but was taken into custody shortly thereafter.
He was taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center but later released to the Whatcom County Jail, where he is currently held without bail.
