MOUNT VERNON, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – One person is dead following an early morning motorcycle crash near Mount Vernon.
Washington State Patrol trooper Kelsey Harding reports that the crash occurred at around 3:45 a.m. on Feb. 13 on I-5 SB near the George Hopper Road exit.
A trooper attempted to pull over a motorcycle for an unspecified reason, but the rider took off and left I-5 at College Way. They were located by the state trooper in Mount Vernon, where they fled via I-5 by going north in the southbound lanes.
The motorcycle rider later struck the Skagit River Bridge and was ejected. Immediately after being ejected, the rider was hit and killed by a semi traveling in the correct direction.
The Skagit and Island County Multiple Agency Response Team is investigating the crash.
