MOUNT BAKER, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Great news is here for skiers and snowboarders as we prepare for a snow-filled weekend at Mt. Baker.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for the North Cascades, including the Mount Baker Ski Area, from 1 p.m. Friday afternoon to 10 a.m. on Sunday.

It says elevations above 3,500 ft are expected to get between 8″ to one foot of snow, and Mount Baker could get “significantly higher amounts.”

NWS advises drivers to slow down on the roads and use caution while traveling.

Mount Baker Ski Area has also issued a variable snow base advisory, warning visitors to beware of hazards like hidden or exposed creeks, rocks, sticks and holes.
