MOUNT BAKER SKI AREA, WA. – (MyBellinghamNow.com) Mount Baker’s Legendary Banked Slalom snowboard race will not happen this year.

Ski area CEO Gwyn Howat said in a video recorded on the mountain that recent weather has not been kind.

In recent days, they have seen three inches of rain on the mountain and lost 14 inches of their snow base.

This would have been the 36th annual Banked Slalom, which was first held on Mount Baker in 1985 during snowboarding’s infancy.

It has been rescheduled to Feb. 7, 8 and 9, 2025.
