LAKE SAMISH, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The N. Lake Samish Bridge is now closed to all watercraft traffic as construction to replace the aging bridge continues.

Whatcom County Public Works says the closure began on Tuesday, July 30, and will likely last through mid-September.

Crews are about to begin work to demolish the existing bridge. That work requires turbidity curtains to be placed across the lake to protect it during construction, which will prevent any boats from passing through the area.

Warning buoys will be on both sides of the bridge to notify lake users during the closure.

Construction of the new bridge is expected to continue through August 2025.
